Last week, SaharaReporters reported that residents near the Precious Seed area of Lagos State accused groups of youths allegedly linked to Oworonshoki of attacking settlements and setting houses ablaze, leaving residents displaced and in fear.
An audio recording obtained by SaharaReporters has sparked outrage in a Lagos community after a traditional ruler’s aide, identified as Hassan Idris Aremu, popularly known as Apesin of Oworonshoki under Oba Babatunde Saliu, is heard issuing death threats against a resident over comments made on social media.
In the recording, the aide was heard speaking to the mother of a resident identified as Abdulazeez, accusing him of disrespecting the throne and allegedly associating with groups causing unrest in the community.
“Alhaja, you know I won't do bad to you. But your son is now trespassing; he is now being rude to the throne. He is now disrespecting the throne. He is doing that again. I will screenshot his words to you,” the voice said.
The aide further escalated the warning, suggesting possible harm against the resident.
