LG Electronics has partnered with SuperSport to launch a brand-new feature show, SuperSport Social Corner, to capture the unique and authentic South African flavour of soccer match-days outside of the stadium.

This show explores the lively, opinionated, and highly social nature of soccer culture in South Africa, illustrating how the right technology can turn any living room into the ultimate match-day fan zone.

The concept behind it is a comedic social experiment. It follows the journey of a soccer enthusiast whose quiet, individual match viewing quickly escalates into a crowded, high-energy neighborhood gathering.

“Soccer in South Africa is a shared ritual that thrives on emotion, community, and friendly rivalry,” says Mr. Taehung Kim, President at LG Electronics South Africa. “Through our partnership with SuperSport on the Social Corner, we wanted to capture that unique energy and give it the showtime it deserves. Our webOS platform is designed to be the gateway to these shared experiences, making it effortless for households to connect, find their favourite sports content, and enjoy the matches together.”

Throughout the show’s run, viewers will see how different smart features on the webOS platform enhance the viewing experience. These include Sports Alerts, which keep fans updated on live scores and kick-off times even while watching other channels, and AI-powered picture and sound optimisations that replicate the roar of a stadium within the home. Whether it is utilising voice control to search for highlights or relying on the rich colours of QNED technology to debate a referee’s decision, the platform serves as the central hub of the match-day experience.
