PSV Eindhoven let the clock run out on an €8 million option to permanently sign left-back Anass Salah-Eddine, sending the 24-year-old defender back to AS Roma after a loan spell that never quite caught fire.
The Dutch club had until the end of the loan period to trigger the buy clause. They chose not to, and negotiations for any alternative permanent deal have since stalled.
A loan that never gained traction
Salah-Eddine arrived at PSV on August 31, 2025. In practice, the numbers tell a different story. Salah-Eddine managed just 17 league appearances across the entire 2025-26 Eredivisie season. For context, a full Dutch league campaign runs 34 matchdays, meaning he featured in exactly half of PSV’s fixtures.
