MANILA, Philippines – A coastal community in Eastern Visayas is envisioned to become a major fishery hub following the distribution of more than P300 million in cash and in-kind assistance in Northern Samar.

The Department of Agriculture (DA) distributed various interventions and financial assistance to farmers and fisherfolk in the town of Mapanas to help boost their incomes and support rural development.

“We are here with a clear purpose: to transform Mapanas into a premier agri-fishery hub in Eastern Visayas,” Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. said.
