Thandazile Ngcobo, the mother of Nobukhosi Zulu, the missing woman from Mariannhill, was overcome with emotions in the Pinetown Regional Court when she learned that her daughter's landlord had been released due to insufficient evidence that she was involved in the disappearance of Zulu.
A grieving mother from Panikeni, Mariannhill, west of Durban, broke down in tears at the Pinetown Regional Court after learning that the woman accused of being linked to the disappearance of her daughter and infant grandchild had been released from custody.
Nzenzephi Phewa, 69, appeared in court on Thursday on charges related to the disappearance of Nobukhosi Zulu, 34, and her 18-month-old child. However, prosecutors explained that the matters are being investigated as two separate cases by different police units.
Zulu's disappearance is being investigated by Mariannhill police, while the case involving her child is being handled by the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit in Chatsworth.
It emerged during proceedings that the case that led to Phewa's arrest related specifically to the child and not directly to Zulu's disappearance.
