The Osun State Government has accused the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) of spreading misinformation over allegations that Governor Ademola Adeleke is marginalising Muslims in his administration.
The allegation followed a statement issued by MURIC’s Executive Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, who accused the governor of sidelining Muslims in key appointments.
Reacting in a statement issued on Saturday by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, the state government dismissed the claims, insisting that they were either based on misinformation or deliberate misrepresentation.
“We believe Professor Akintola acted on misinformation or he is actively an agent of misinformation. Governor Adeleke is a strong believer who relates well with people of all faiths, in line with the inclusive leadership example of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). His administration has appointed qualified Muslims to key positions,” the statement said.
