Ejimakor recalled that the trial of Kanu began before Justice Omotosho in March 2025, with the prosecution opening its case as required under criminal procedure.
Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, the Special Counsel to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has lambasted the Federal High Court in Abuja over alleged procedural irregularities and restrictions that allegedly “frustrated” the imprisoned IPOB leader from fully presenting his defence during his trial
In a statement titled “How Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was frustrated from mounting his defense,” Ejimakor accused the trial court presided over by Justice James Omotosho of imposing tight deadlines and procedural constraints that, according to him, undermined the fairness of the proceedings.
Ejimakor recalled that the trial of Kanu began before Justice Omotosho in March 2025, with the prosecution opening its case as required under criminal procedure.
“The trial of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu commenced before Justice James Omotosho in March 2025. As in all criminal trials, it is the prosecution that must first present its case before the defense can present its own. This is how it proceeded until June 2025 when the prosecution concluded its case after calling five witnesses,” the lawyer said.
