When most people in North America or Europe hear the name VinFast, they probably think of the Vietnamese electric car company trying to break into international markets with a lineup of electric SUVs.

What many don’t realize is that VinFast is already a giant in another corner of the EV industry: electric two-wheelers.

The company has just announced that it rolled its one millionth electric motorcycle – or more accurately, electric scooter – off the production line, a milestone that highlights just how massive the Asian e-mobility market has become.

The millionth vehicle was a red Feliz II electric scooter, produced at VinFast’s manufacturing complex in Hai Phong, according to local media. The model uses a removable battery system that can either be charged at home or swapped at dedicated battery exchange stations.

That battery swapping strategy is one of the more interesting parts of VinFast’s approach. While much of the West remains focused on plug-in charging, battery swapping has gained traction in several Asian markets where dense urban populations and apartment living can make home charging less convenient.
