A ferry boat heading from Piraeus to the southeastern Aegean Sea islands with more than 1,000 passengers and crew was diverted to the port of Lavrio Friday following a bomb threat.
The Blue Star 2 ferry left Piraeus for Syros, Patmos, Leros, Kalymnos, Kos and Rhodes, but was ordered to head for Lavrio following the phone threat. Explosives experts and sniffer dogs were due to examine the ship there.
The ferry was carrying 952 passengers and a crew of 98.
