A Turkish escaped convict wanted in his country to serve a long prison sentence was arrested in Greece Friday in possession of large quantities of psychiatric pills, police said.

A police statement said the 43-year-old man faces charges in Greece of manufacturing or circulating dangerous medicine. During his arrest, police found in his room a bag containing 5,342 pills for neurological and psychiatric ailments, the statement said.

It said the suspect was convicted in Turkey of offenses including arms trafficking, illegal gun possession, grievous bodily harm and illegal gambling.
