New Delhi, Jun 11 (PTI) Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Thursday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and submitted a memorandum seeking central support for infrastructure, education, industrial and connectivity projects, as the state targets to become a USD 1 trillion economy by 2034.

Revanth Reddy reiterated his earlier proposal for the constitution of an “M-6 Task Force”, floated at the 11th Governing Council Meeting of Niti Aayog under the Prime Minister’s leadership, for the development of six major economic growth engines — Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru.He sought a dedicated fund of Rs 6 lakh crore, with Rs 1 lakh crore earmarked for each of the six cities to strengthen urban infrastructure.

On education, the chief minister pressed for an Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Hyderabad, arguing that despite hosting premier institutions such as IIT, IIIT, NALSAR, TIFR and ISB, Telangana remains one of the few major states without one.The state government has offered 200 acres of encumbrance-free land for the purpose, according to a government statement.Revanth Reddy sought expeditious approval for the Hyderabad Regional Ring Road (Northern and Southern Corridors), the Hyderabad-Amaravati-Bandar Port Expressway, and a four-lane elevated corridor from Mannanur to Srisailam on NH-765.On urban mobility, he requested approval for Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II, covering 122.9 km across seven corridors at an estimated Rs 38,595 crore, as a joint venture between the Centre and the state.The chief minister also sought the Centre’s assistance for a Regional Ring Rail Project, a Central High-Speed Rail Hub at Shamshabad, and high-speed rail links connecting Hyderabad with Chennai, Bengaluru and Pune.On the semiconductor and electronics front, Reddy requested the allocation of projects under India Semiconductor Mission 2.0 and sanction of an Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC 2.0) at Future City with grant-in-aid support from New Delhi.He also demanded early approvals for the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme and urged the Prime Minister to facilitate inter-state talks with Maharashtra over the Tummidihatti Barrage, a key component of the Dr B R Ambedkar Pranahita-Chevella Project.Invoking Telangana’s recent Socio-Economic, Educational, Employment, Political and Caste Survey (SEEEPC), the chief minister highlighted state initiatives, including Young India Residential Schools, Young India Skills University and ITI modernisation in partnership with Tata Technologies, framing them as part of a broader push to build an AI-ready workforce.Later in the day, Reddy met Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar to discuss key urban development projects.
