Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has said that quality education and healthcare formed crucial components for the all-round progress of the country.He stressed the need for revolutionary changes in the education system and skill development besides special focus on world class amenities. The Chief Minister was speaking at the NITI Aayog governing council meeting in New Delhi, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Thursday.Provision of quality education and healthcare are the foundation stones for the Central Government’s Viksit Bharat - 2047 target.He explained to the participants about the Socio, Economic, Education, Employment, Political and Caste (SEEEPC) survey conducted by the Telangana Government, which revealed several key aspects. The survey covering 3.55 crore people hailing from 242 different castes revealed that lack of education was a causative factor in social backwardness in sharp contrast to popular perception that caste played a major role. It was therefore imperative to ensure quality education to people in the country’s pursuit of Viksit Bharat goals.Mr. Reddy informed the participants that he was holding the education portfolio too as he firmly believed that education was the solution to several problems. Though successive governments took steps to provide free education, imparting quality education had become a challenge for them. The State Government had therefore initiated revolutionary measures to ensure quality education to students besides creating a congenial atmosphere for enrolment of students in Telangana public schools. Steps were taken to ensure that education from nursery to Intermediate levels was provided in the same campus and exuded confidence that the Young India residential schools would enable breaking caste barriers among students.The Telangana Government had initiated work for setting up Young India residential schools in all Assembly constituencies, he said inviting the Chief Ministers and senior officials of other States to visit these institutions to study their functioning. He stressed the need for skill development among youth in the light of advent of AI and said that the Telangana Government had initiated several projects like Regional Ring Road and green energy projects to create employment potential on a large scale. Steps were taken to impart global level skills to aspiring youth through skills university and convert the ITIs into advanced technology centres in partnership with the Tata Group which would invest ₹2,100 crore in the project.M-6 Task ForceExplaining about the State Government’s ambitious target of making the State US $3 trillion economy by 2047, he stressed the need for the Central Government to sanction an IIM to the State, which already had premier institutions such as IIT, IIIT, Nalsar, ISB and others. The Chief Minister said that six major cities, including Hyderabad and Bangalore, were growth engines of the country and there was need for setting up an exclusive M-6 Task Force in the Prime Minister’s Office for the all round development of these cities.The Central Government should sanction ₹1 lakh crore for each city for their accelerated development. He also requested the Centre to extend financial assistance for Regional Ring Road, Metro rail second phase, Musi rejuvenation, Bharat Future City and other projects.
