Greek police have formally taken into custody a man extradited from Bosnia-Herzegovina to face charges of murder, authorities said Friday.

A police statement said the suspect, only identified as a 34-year-old foreign national, is suspected of having fatally stabbed a 44-year-old compatriot in October 2025 on the island of Paros in the Cyclades.

Reports at the time had said the Afghan victim had been stabbed at least 15 times in his home in the seaside village of Naoussa.

Police said the suspect left the island after the stabbing and managed to escape abroad before being arrested in Bosnia-Herzegovina on the basis of an international warrant.

Another two Afghans are suspected of having assisted the main suspect in his escape.
