The Coimbatore City Police will operate two automatic traffic signals at Esso Bunk and Pioneer Mill junction on trial mode from June 13 to 17. Signals at the two places had been removed during the construction of the G.D. Naidu Flyover. According to the police, new automatic signals have been installed at the two locations. The signals will be operational on the five days for the traffic police to study the flow of vehicles and adjustments that need to be made in their operation. The existing ‘U’ turn near Domino’s outlet at Pioneer Mill junction will remain closed during the trial. The police plan to operate the two traffic signals permanently for the benefit of motorists travelling to Peelamedu, Gandhi Maa Nagar and Bharathi Colony, said a statement.
