The protesters marched through major streets in the state carrying placards with inscriptions such as "Insecurity Must Stop!", "Please We Need Security," "End Kidnapping and Insecurity," "Say No to Banditry and Terrorism," and "Protect Our Nation," among others.

Scores of Nigerians under the banner of the Take It Back Movement on Friday staged a protest in Abia State, condemning worsening insecurity, kidnappings and the continued detention of abducted schoolchildren and teachers, as they declared that there was "nothing to celebrate" on Nigeria's Democracy Day.

The protesters marched through major streets in the state carrying placards with inscriptions such as "Insecurity Must Stop!", "Please We Need Security," "End Kidnapping and Insecurity," "Say No to Banditry and Terrorism," and "Protect Our Nation," among others.

During the demonstration, one of the protest leaders accused political leaders at both federal and state levels of failing to guarantee the safety of citizens, saying insecurity had made daily life unbearable for millions of Nigerians.

"We are protesting against insecurity. Our children are no longer safe. President Tinubu and all the governors, we are no longer safe in our country. We can no longer go to school," the protest leader said in a video obtained by SaharaReporters.
