The protesters, who converged in large numbers at strategic locations within the nation's capital, carried placards bearing various inscriptions condemning the rising cost of living, widespread insecurity, kidnapping, and the deteriorating economic conditions confronting millions of Nigerians.

The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) and human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, alongside members of the Take-It-Back (TIB) Movement and concerned residents of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, on Friday staged a massive protest against worsening insecurity, economic hardship and bad governance on democracy Day.

The protesters, who converged in large numbers at strategic locations within the nation's capital, carried placards bearing various inscriptions condemning the rising cost of living, widespread insecurity, kidnapping, and the deteriorating economic conditions confronting millions of Nigerians.

Some of the placards read: "End Bad Governance Now," "Books Not Bullets," "Stop the Killings," "Stop Kidnapping Our Children," "Enough Is Enough,"and "Security Is A Right, Not A Privilege."

The demonstration drew participants from different walks of life, including youth groups, civil society activists, students, workers and residents who expressed frustration over the country's deepening economic crisis and persistent security challenges.
