Comrades Marathon legends Bongumusa Mthembu, a three-time champion and 12-time gold medallist, and Joseph Manyedi of the Maxed Elite Running Club in Rustenburg, a five-time Comrades gold medallist and fourth-place finisher in the 2025 race, in high spirits following the Elite Runners Comrades Marathon media briefing at the Elangeni Hotel in Durban on Thursday.
As anticipation builds ahead of Sunday's Comrades Marathon, two of the race's most accomplished athletes have helped shine the spotlight on KwaZulu-Natal as a premier tourism destination.
Three-time Comrades Marathon champion and 12-time gold medallist Bongumusa Mthembu joined five-time Comrades gold medallist Joseph Manyedi at the Elite Runners Comrades Marathon media briefing held at Durban's Elangeni Hotel on Thursday.
Manyedi, who represents the Maxed Elite Running Club in Rustenburg, finished fourth in the 2025 edition of the world-renowned ultra-marathon and remains one of the most respected competitors in the race.
The pair paused for photographs following the briefing, symbolising the spirit of resilience, determination and excellence that has become synonymous with The Ultimate Human Race.
