Schools across the city reopened on Thursday, after a two-month summer vacation, as students returned to classrooms for the new academic year.Campuses witnessed a flurry of activity from morning onwards, with students arriving carrying colourful new backpacks. Many parents accompanied their children and were seen dropping them off at the school gates. Emotional scenes were witnessed at several campuses, particularly among younger children, some of whom were shedding tears while bidding farewell to their parents after a long break.Although temperatures continue to remain high, weather conditions were comparatively better than those experienced in the past few days, with several areas recording 39°C in the afternoon.Schools managements gave warm welcome to students by decorating classrooms. On social media, for the past two days, many school managements posted innovative reels welcoming students back to schools. Institutions also organised special welcome programmes for children and classrooms buzzed with renewed energy.In keeping with tradition, many parents took their children to temples, before sending them to school, seeking blessings for a successful and fruitful year of learning.Meanwhile, attendance remained moderate in many schools, with some parents preferring to wait a few more days before, citing the prevailing summer heat.
