The Comrades Marathon Association has announced the 26 official pacesetters for next Sunday’s 50th Up Run.

With the 99th Comrades Marathon set to take place this weekend, June 14, motorists, spectators, and residents are being urged to prepare for traffic disruptions and road closures.

This year’s event is an "Up Run," which will see roughly 21,600 athletes making the gruelling journey from the Durban City Hall to the Scottsville Racecourse in Pietermaritzburg.

An estimated 65,000 spectators are expected to travel from across the country and abroad, as eThekwini Municipality and traffic authorities have activated operational plans and announced major road closures.

The entire official race route will be systematically closed to all non-accredited vehicular traffic from early morning until the 12-hour cut-off in the evening.
