The Comrades Marathon Association has announced the 26 official pacesetters for next Sunday’s 50th Up Run.

When the starting gun fires on next Sunday's 99th edition of the Comrades Marathon, thousands of runners will be chasing personal bests in the 50th Up Run from Durban to Pietermaritzburg, medal targets and lifelong dreams.

But for 26 participants, success will not be measured by their own finishing times. Instead, their mission will be to guide hundreds of fellow runners safely to the finish line.

The Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) recently unveiled their official pacesetting team for the 99th edition of the Ultimate Human Race, with the experienced group once again set to play a crucial role in helping runners navigate the gruelling journey between Durban and Pietermaritzburg.

Known affectionately as the race's "bus drivers", the pacesetters carry time flags corresponding to specific medal targets, allowing runners to latch onto a group and trust someone else to manage the pace, strategy and timing.
