One of the protesters, who spoke with SaharaReporters in a telephone interview on Friday, alleged that members of the group arrived at the protest venue and attempted to force the demonstrators to vacate the area.
Participants in the Democracy Day protest held at Ikeja Under Bridge in Lagos have accused suspected APC-sponsored thugs operating under the banner of “Team Nigeria” of attempting to disrupt their demonstration through intimidation, physical assault and noise interference.
One of the protesters, who spoke with SaharaReporters in a telephone interview on Friday, alleged that members of the group arrived at the protest venue and attempted to force the demonstrators to vacate the area.
According to the protester, the group acted aggressively towards activists and journalists covering the event and allegedly sought to prevent media documentation of their activities.
“APC-sponsored thugs in the name of ‘Team Nigeria’ came to disrupt our protest at Ikeja Under Bridge. They were aggressive and were fighting the media for recording,” the protester told SaharaReporters.
