U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were down 0.2% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average were flat. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.

In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 gained 1.2% in morning trading. KGHM Polska Miedz rose 5.6% and Acciona added 5.6%. On the other hand, LPP sunk 5.6%, and Equinor lost 4.5%. The FTSE 100 added 0.8%. Other stocks in Europe were up as France's CAC 40 increased 1.4% and Germany's DAX climbed 1.3%.

The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index climbed 0.2% to 96.43.

In commodities, Brent crude dropped 1.9% to $88.68 a barrel, and WTI crude fell 1.6% to $86.27 a barrel. The European benchmark price for natural gas, the Dutch futures contract TTF, was down 4.6% to 47.39 euros a megawatt hour.

The German 10-year Bund yield fell by 4 basis points to 2.995% from 3.035%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury held steady at 4.47%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.
