Leaders of Amachai community, Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, have petitioned the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, over what they described as illegal demolitions, unlawful execution of a court judgment and disregard of subsisting court orders in a long-running communal land dispute.

The petition, filed through MCBONE Attorneys and signed by Ugochukwu Paul Ogaraku on behalf of Diokpa Patrick Obiora, Diokpa Raymond Eguogu, Diokpa Ndih and other leaders of the community, accused one Sam Morah, Golden Azikiwe, Ikechukwu Nwenyi, Paul Oburotha, Orji Martins Chinedu, Joe Okolie, Celestine Okolie, Felix Oburotha, Nonso Agala, Patrick Ndih, Peter Okeleke and others said to be at large of alleged criminal conspiracy, forgery, malicious damage, obstruction of justice and conduct capable of causing a breach of public peace.

According to the petition, the dispute arose from suit No. AKU/23/2012, Friday Okonkwo & Anor vs Joseph Obiora & Anor, before the High Court of Justice, Delta State, Akwukwu-Igbo Judicial Division, where Hon. Justice M.C. Okoh ruled on February 3, 2020, that the land in dispute is communal property belonging to the entire Amachai community and held in trust by the Diokpas for the benefit of the community.
