The community called for the urgent intervention of government authorities and relevant agencies, stressing that the controversy has evolved beyond a mere disagreement over ownership of the disputed land.

Residents and indigenes of the Ogbeozoma community in Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, have raised concerns over what they described as unlawful arrests, intimidation, violent clashes, alleged shootings and police brutality arising from a protracted land dispute.

The community called for the urgent intervention of government authorities and relevant agencies, stressing that the controversy has evolved beyond a mere disagreement over ownership of the disputed land.

The residents accused a real estate developer, Bethel Court Estate, of allegedly using security agencies to intimidate indigenous landowners and facilitate the takeover of the contested property.

They said the dispute has become a disturbing case of alleged abuse of power, destruction of property and the deployment of armed security operatives in a matter they believe should be resolved through the courts.
