The Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR), Lagos State Branch, has called on Nigerians to participate en masse in the planned June 12 protest, asking Nigerians to rise and revolt against the worsening insecurity, hunger, kidnappings, and economic hardship across the country.
Stressing that the demonstration will be a peaceful mass action, CDHR in a statement issued on Thursday, said June 12, designated by the Nigerian government to mark the country’s Democracy Day, remains a symbol of the struggle for democracy, justice, and the sovereignty of the people.
The group, in the statement signed by its Lagos State Chairman, Comrade Wale Ojo, urged Nigerians from all walks of life to join the nationwide protest.
According to CDHR, the protest is intended to remind the government of its constitutional responsibility to protect lives and property.
“As Nigerians commemorate June 12, a day that symbolizes the struggle for democracy, justice, and the sovereignty of the people, the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR), Lagos State Branch, calls on all patriotic Nigerians to come out en masse and participate in the June 12 Protest,” the statement read.
