The group urged Nigerians to set aside ethnic, religious, and other divisions, insisting that unity was the only way to confront what it described as a deepening national crisis.
The United Actions For Democracy (UAD) has called on Nigerians to massively participate in the nationwide protests scheduled for Friday, June 12, stressing that citizens must “take their destinies into their hands” in the face of escalating insecurity across the country.
In a statement issued on Thursday by its General Secretary, Kunle Wizeman Ajayi, the group said the worsening security situation has made it imperative for Nigerians to rise collectively against a “systemic failure of leadership and governance.”
According to UAD, the June 12 protests present a critical opportunity for citizens to send a “clear and unambiguous message” not only to criminals responsible for violent attacks across the country, but also to those in government whom it accused of enabling conditions that fuel insecurity.
“It is now very clear that Nigerians have to take their destinies into their hands by rising together to defeat the mass insecurity that is now the biggest threat in the country,” Ajayi stated.
