A crime activist has alleged fraud and corruption in the repair and maintenance of City-owned units.
The four-year long case against seven people including a former City of Cape Town employee involving alleged claims of tender fraud and corruption worth R2.5million has been postponed once again.
Activist and whistle-blower, Hanif Loonat, who was supported by members from the National Coloured Congress (NCC), held a protest outside the Bellville Commercial Crimes Court this week, related to the delays.
In 2022, eight people, including the two directors of The Construction Company (TCC) - Asif Khan and Abdul Karrim Khan, were arrested and charged.
A further four employees of TCC - Uwais Khan, Irfaan Khan, Craig Kannemeyer, Abdulatief Abrahams, and two City of Cape Town employees - Adam Majiet and Alistair Stanbul, were implicated.
