Some of the individuals facing court action in relation to the Medicare 24 Tshwane District contract
The corruption case involving 14 accused linked to the Medicare 24 Tshwane District contract has been postponed to August 28, 2026, allowing prosecutors time to complete the disclosure of evidence in a case that has drawn significant public attention.
The matter, being prosecuted by the Investigative Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC), is before the Pretoria Magistrates’ Court and centres on alleged irregularities in the awarding and management of a public health contract in Tshwane. The case is regarded as one of the province’s significant procurement fraud prosecutions because of its potential impact on public healthcare spending and service delivery.
Thirteen of the 14 accused have already surrendered their electronic storage devices to the State, with the remaining accused expected to comply during the latest court appearance.
The prosecution has undertaken to provide disclosure of the case docket to all defence teams between July 15 and 31 2026.
