Cape Town finance mayco member Siseko Mbandenzi, along with three other City officials, have formed part of an investiagtion by the SAPS Commercial Crimes Unit involving former contractor, Triple C Maintenance and Service - accused of attempting to buy tenders from the municipality.

This follows a search and seizure at several suspects' residences, including Mbandenzi's, and the offices of the City of Cape Town.

Police said during the operation, 21 cellphones and nine laptops were seized for forensic investigation, together with other potential evidential material relevant to the case.

Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis said he has not received any indication from police that the search relates to wrongdoing of the mayco member directly, while police confirmed no arrests at this stage.
