Members of the Durban Africa Sports Club, an organization committed to developing sport both on and off the field, continue to invest in community upliftment through initiatives such as its upcoming Sports Administration Workshop for educators.

Strong school sport begins long before the first whistle blows. According to respected sports administrator Prem Vayapuri, the success of any programme often depends on what happens behind the scenes rather than on the playing field.

It is this philosophy that underpins the Durban Africa Sports Club’s (DASC) Sports Administration Workshop for Educators, which will take place at Hotel Savera in Durban on Tuesday, 23 June, from 8.30am to 2pm. The workshop, open to invited schools, aims to equip educators with practical knowledge and governance skills needed to build effective and sustainable school sports programmes.

Participants will receive training in administration systems, document management, financial accountability, business principles in sport, communication, governance structures and the responsibilities of office bearers, all aimed at strengthening sport at grassroots level.

Vayapuri, a former director of school sport, coaching and high performance at the KwaZulu‑Natal Department of Sports, Arts and Culture, believes good administration is often overlooked.
