The prestigious project and builder categories were also presented, and for the first time ever, there were two Lifetime Achievement Award recipients. The BILD Awards provides an opportunity to recognize and appreciate the hard work of the individuals who make up our industry – from marketers to builders, to designers and architects. Each person plays an important role in the success of the sector every year. It is always an honour to bear witness to the excellence that sets the standard for our industry. From over 500 submitted entries, a group of 46 dedicated expert judges from across North America decided the winners. The prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to two individuals this year. David Feldman, Founder and Chairman of Camrost Felcorp and Eddie Weisz, Co-Founder and President of Paradise Developments. The Lifetime Achievement Award is the highest honour BILD can present to members, recognizing those who have dedicated a lifetime to the association and the industry and demonstrated significant leadership and commitment to the greater good. Mr. Feldman has a city-building career spanning more than five decades, has overseen the construction of 100 buildings in his career, and has helped shape the GTA and create a lasting contribution to Ontario’s built environment. He has built numerous communities, including Upper East Village in Leaside and Marina Del Rey in Etobicoke, and has meaningfully shaped the fabric of this entire region. Alongside his extensive development career, Mr. Feldman is committed to philanthropic initiatives and has established the David Feldman Centre for Real Estate and Urban Economics at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management and is a major supporter of the University Health Network, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, and Mount Sinai Hospital. Our second Lifetime Achievement Award winner, Eddie Weisz, began his more than six-decade development career as a construction supervisor for low-rise subdivisions across the GTA. Mr. Weisz credits this early education in quality, accountability, and pride in workmanship as the true foundation on which well-built communities are established. Through his company, Paradise Developments, he has overseen the construction of more than 15,000 homes in virtually every municipality across the GTA and has master-planned communities throughout the region. It was an honour to present these true city-builders with the Lifetime Achievement Award as they exemplify visionary leadership and a sustained commitment to the public. Other big winners of the night included Tridel as Home Builder of the Year, Mid/High-Rise, and Treasure Hill taking home the award for Home Builder of the Year, Low-Rise. These awards recognize builders who are committed to the highest level of professionalism and dedication to excellence. Part of the judging process for these awards is a customer satisfaction survey to ensure that end users’ experience is considered in the criteria. Another major winner from the night he was Menkes Developments’ The Whitfield designed by Giannone Petricone Associates Inc. Architects, Figure3, and ADHOC STUDIO. This project took home the elusive People’s Choice Award, which is an award voted on by GTA residents. It was also awarded Project of the Year, Mid/High-Rise for its design excellence and building innovation. Congratulations to all of the recipients.
