MANILA, Philippines — Several areas over the west of Luzon may experience rains on Friday, Independence Day, as the southwest monsoon continues to bring cloud bands, state meteorologists said on Thursday.

Weather updates from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) showed that there will be a high chance of rains and thunderstorms over Ilocos Norte, Apayao, Batanes and Babuyan Islands.

Scattered rains may also be experienced in Metro Manila and other parts of the country.
