Bashir Ismail, the chairperson of the Chatsworth Taxi Association, said "mischief-makers" were behind the video and attempted to “cause trouble” in Chatsworth.
The Chatsworth Taxi Association urges passengers who use e-hailing services to ensure drivers are registered with the association for their safety, and the safety of the drivers.
This follows a video circulating on social media where a man, purporting to be a marshal for the association, stops an e-hailing driver from leaving the Chatsworth Centre with a female passenger.
In the video, the "marshal" explains to the passenger that only e-hailing vehicles that are registered with the association could pick up passengers from the centre.
The passenger said she was unaware of the regulations, and the marshal told her she would have to board the vehicle outside the centre’s property if she chose to use an unregistered vehicle.
