The town contests a €1,000 penalty linked to a food stand placed beside the memorial.
The Monument of the Liberators in Prešov, dedicated to soldiers of the Soviet Army, has once again become the centre of controversy.
During last year's Christmas market, a food stand called Pub U Anjela was placed next to the monument.
The Prešov District Office has now fined the city €1,000, arguing that the authorities allowed the stand to be located there and thus committed an administrative offence under Slovakia's War Graves Act.
The decision is not yet final, reports the Korzár news site.
