A special court for the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act in Villupuram, on Wednesday, convicted and sentenced a 36-year-old man to 20 years’ imprisonment for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl.Special Court Judge M. Vinodha also imposed a fine of ₹10,000 on the accused person, P. Siva of Tindivanam.According to the prosecution, the victim had lost both her parents and was staying in a relative’s house. On October 10, 2020, the perpetrator entered the house and sexually assaulted her. The Tindivanam All Women Police registered a case and arrested Siva.The court also ordered ₹5 lakh compensation to be given to the survivor. Published - June 10, 2026 09:47 pm IST
