Special POCSO Court in Srivilliputhur has convicted an accused of sexually assaulting a girl in a case registered by Sivakasi All Women Police Station.
The accused, Ramar, 29, was sentenced to undergo 20 years of rigorous imprisonment under multiple aggravated provisions of the POCSO Act, along with fines, and two years of jail for criminal intimidation. The sentences would run concurrently.
The police said that the man had repeatedly abused the minor girl, who was his relative by threatening the victim with dire consequences.
This is the second conviction in POCSCO Act case in the district in 2026. The district police had secured conviction in 26 cases in 2025, a statement said.
