Passengers travelling by the Erode–Chennai Central–Erode Yercaud Express will benefit from the introduction of advanced and lightweight Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches, which replaced the conventional coaches on Wednesday (June 10, 2026).A press release from the Salem Railway Division said that Train No. 22650 Erode–Chennai Central Yercaud Express would run with LHB coaches from June 10, while Train No. 22649 Chennai Central–Erode Yercaud Express would be converted to LHB coaches from June 13.The revised rake composition comprises one AC First Class-cum-AC Two-Tier coach, two AC Two-Tier coaches, three AC Three-Tier coaches, 10 Sleeper Class coaches, four General Second Class coaches, one luggage-cum-disabled-friendly coach and one power car.The release said LHB coaches, originally developed by Germany’s Linke-Hofmann-Busch and now manufactured in India, are lighter and capable of operating at higher speeds than conventional coaches. They also offer higher passenger capacity, improved suspension for greater riding comfort, advanced pneumatic disc brakes, modern interiors and higher-capacity air-conditioning systems.
