The special package bus from Salem New Bus Stand to Yercaud, which covers 12 important tourist spots in Yercaud, began its operation on Thursday (May 7, 2026).

Yercaud, which is known as Poor People’s Ooty, attracts lakhs of tourists every year from various parts of the State and the country as well. Specifically, during the summer season and the flower show, lakhs of people visit this hill station. Following the summer holidays declared for the schools and colleges, the number of people visiting Yercaud has been increasing day by day. Hotels and resorts in the hill station are packed with tourists, and traffic congestion was also reported in Yercaud town every day. The police have been deployed to clear the traffic.

Tourists are thronging tourist spots in Yercaud, including the boathouse, Anna Park, deer park, botanical garden, Shervaroyan temple, Ladies’ Seat, telescope point, Pakoda Point, and Lake Park. Considering the rush, the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) of the Salem division is operating special buses to cater to the crowd.

Officials attached to the TNSTC said that this package bus will be operated until June 30. The bus will depart from Salem New Bus Stand at 8.30 a.m. and will cover 12 tourist spots, including Karadiyur view point, Shervaroyan temple, Manjakuttai view point, Pakoda Point, Ladies Seat, Rose Garden, Yercaud Lake, Anna Park, Deer Park, and Botanical Garden, post which the bus will retuen back to the Salem New Bus Stand by 7 p.m. For the special package, the ticket fare is fixed as ₹300 per passenger and ₹150 for children.
