The 49th Yercaud Summer Festival and Flower Show will begin at Yercaud on Friday (May 22). The week-long festival will run till May 28 and is designed to entertain both children and adults.Collector K. Elambahavath inspected the preparatory works at the hill station and directed officials to ensure adequate drinking water supply, parking, garbage bins and toilets at tourist-heavy locations such as the Boat House, Anna Park and the Botanical Garden.Officials were also instructed to regulate traffic to avoid congestion during the festival period and to install signboards to help tourists reach various tourist destinations in and around Yercaud.The Collector said the Department of Horticulture would organise a flower show at Anna Park using nearly two lakh flowers. Fruit and vegetable exhibitions would also be arranged as part of the event. Floral installations depicting themes related to agriculture and rural life, including figures of animals, dancers and decorative motifs, would be displayed.More than 30,000 flower pots are expected to be exhibited during the festival.
