Sofia, Varna, Burgas, and Plovdiv remain in contention to host Eurovision Song Contest 2027, with the final decision now expected in July. The Bulgarian National Television (BNT) is aiming to speed up the selection process, moving it forward from the European Broadcasting Union’s (EBU) August deadline, following an initial meeting with representatives of the four candidate cities.

BNT officials and municipal delegates held their first formal discussions, during which the overall procedure was outlined. Candidate cities were instructed to submit detailed information covering infrastructure, technical and logistical readiness, potential venues, cultural programming, and planned accompanying events. The broadcaster’s goal is to complete the evaluation and announce the host city by the end of July.

“The deadline for selecting the host city for Eurovision 2027 is in a month,” was noted during the meeting, which also marked the start of the formal assessment phase.

According to BNT Director General Milena Milotinova, municipalities must first confirm their participation after reviewing the conditions, after which full documentation will be distributed. While the EBU’s official timeline allows until August, she emphasized that the broadcaster is working to finalize the decision earlier in order to secure more preparation time.
