The South African Police Service has reinforced its investigation into the Cleveland mass shooting in Johannesburg by deploying additional national specialised resources to assist provincial teams in tracking down those responsible for the attack that left 12 people dead.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) has strengthened its investigation into the mass shooting in Cleveland, Johannesburg, which claimed the lives of 12 people.

Acting National Commissioner Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane commended the swift response by the Gauteng Provincial Commissioner and operational teams following the incident.

To bolster the investigation, Dimpane has directed the deployment of additional national specialised capabilities to support provincial investigators. The reinforcements include members of Forensic Services, Tactical Response Teams and other specialised investigative units.

A multidisciplinary task team made up of provincial and national experts has been established to pursue all investigative and intelligence leads around the clock.
