Defense Minister Dimitar Stoyanov said Bulgaria is ending the provision of additional weapons and ammunition to Ukraine, stressing that since taking office he has not received any new requests from Kyiv for specific military assistance.
Speaking on bTV, Stoyanov rejected criticism from opposition parties that the government was disregarding a decision of the National Assembly. According to him, the parliamentary resolution adopted on December 9, 2022, clearly states that military equipment can be supplied only upon request from Ukraine and if Bulgaria has the capacity to provide it.
“It is good when a decision of the National Assembly is cited, but it should also be read,” the defense minister said, arguing that the government remains fully in line with the mandate approved by lawmakers.

Stoyanov noted that Bulgaria has already fulfilled its commitments under the parliamentary decision, with a total of 13 aid packages delivered to Ukraine since the beginning of the process. He maintained that the current position does not contradict Parliament's instructions, but reflects an assessment that Bulgaria can no longer spare additional military resources.
