Bulgaria has stated that it has no financial obligations toward the Gaza Board of Peace initiative and is not expected to contribute funding, as the country has not ratified the relevant charter establishing the body.

The clarification was provided by Foreign Minister Velislava Petrova-Chamova in response to a parliamentary inquiry from MP Atanas Slavov. The question followed media reports suggesting that the U.S.-backed initiative, associated with President Donald Trump, was facing funding gaps and that participating states were being encouraged to increase their financial involvement in Gaza-related reconstruction efforts and the work of a proposed transitional authority.

According to the minister, Bulgaria has not received any formal request or invitation to participate financially in the project. As a result, no commitments or obligations exist on the Bulgarian side at this stage.

She further noted that any future government considerations regarding potential participation would depend on the country’s fiscal capacity in the coming years. “Any subsequent actions by the government will be aligned with the country’s fiscal capacity in the coming years,” the minister said.

The position effectively confirms that Bulgaria is not currently part of the financing framework and would only reassess its stance if official procedures or agreements change in the future.
