The Bulgarian Council of Ministers has approved 200,000 euros in emergency humanitarian assistance for Lebanon and the Gaza Strip, aimed at addressing urgent needs caused by the worsening crisis in the Middle East.

The aid will be distributed as voluntary contributions through international organizations, with funding drawn from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ official development assistance and humanitarian budget. The amount will be split equally between the two regions.

The support package will go to a range of humanitarian partners, including the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs’ Humanitarian Fund for Lebanon, the World Food Programme’s operations in Lebanon, the International Committee of the Red Cross, UNICEF, and the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organization working in Gaza.

Officials say the assistance is intended to respond to escalating humanitarian pressures, including mass displacement and severe disruptions in access to food and essential services in both territories.

The government described the decision as “an act of empathy for the population of Lebanon and the Gaza Strip, who are in a difficult humanitarian situation as a result of the escalating tension in the Middle East region and the subsequent mass displacement and restriction of access to food aid and services.”
