South African football icon Siphiwe Tshabalala has traded his boots for textbooks, announcing his enrollment in an elite executive programme at Harvard Business School.

For many people around the world, Siphiwe Tshabalala will always be the man who made an entire nation leap off its couch in 2010.

That thunderous opening goal at the Fifa World Cup became more than a sporting moment. It became a memory stitched into South Africa’s collective identity.

But 16 years later, Tshabalala is proving that life’s most meaningful victories do not always happen on a football field. The former Bafana Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs star has captured the imagination of fans once again.

He recently revealed on social media that he has been studying at Harvard Business School alongside Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga.
