Proteas all-rounder Marizanne Kapp wants the entire batting unit to take responsibility to relieve the pressure on captain Laura Wolvaardt at the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
Wolvaardt is currently the No. 3-ranked T20 batter in the world and has played a pivotal role in her team reaching three consecutive major ICC tournament finals.
The skipper was particularly prolific in last year’s ICC ODI World Cup, becoming the first player to score centuries in both the semifinal and final.
The Proteas have often been over-dependent on Wolvaardt to lead the way with her runs, leaving her to single-handedly carry the team’s fortunes on her shoulders.
