The Thessaloniki Port Authority (ThPA S.A)., led by Chief Executive Officer Ioannis Tsaras, is investing in the digital transformation of port operations through its participation in the “Internet of Containers” (IoC) research programme, in collaboration with the Department of Supply Chain Management of the International Hellenic University.The project focuses on the development and deployment of “smart” containers at the Port of Thessaloniki, with the objective of enhancing traceability, security and operational efficiency across transport and logistics processes. Through the IoC platform, containers can be monitored throughout every stage of their journey—from storage facilities and terminal operations to vessel loading and final delivery.The system also enables the digital recording of inspections and the management of critical operational data, contributing to greater transparency, improved decision-making and more efficient cargo handling throughout the supply chain.
