A police officer was viciously attacked with an axe on Monday morning.

Three suspects are expected to appear in court soon after a police officer was viciously attacked with an axe on Monday morning in Delft, Cape Town.

The provincial police spokesperson, Colonel André Traut, said the SAPS condemned the violent attack.

The incident took place just after 2am.

“At approximately 2am, a police constable was standing outside the Community Service Centre when he was approached by a suspect armed with an axe. The suspect allegedly struck the member on the head, causing serious injuries,” Traut said.
