The best way to grasp the enormity of Texas A&M University’s main campus is from the air. Since its founding in 1876, a coarse prairie has blossomed in concrete, glass, and steel. Buildings of every shape and size give the school the appearance of a city. But even before World War II, the current footprint was there, easily recognizable in old photos.
