The South African Police Service is marking Youth Month by highlighting the achievements of young officers serving across the country. Among them is this young female member of the elite National Intervention Unit (NIU), whose identity has been withheld for security reasons.

As South Africa commemorates Youth Month, the South African Police Service (SAPS) is highlighting the achievements of young officers who are helping drive the organisation's Reset Agenda through dedication, innovation and leadership.

Under the national campaign, "SAPS Youth – Leading the Reset Agenda", and the theme "My Blood is Blue", the police service is profiling young men and women who have committed their lives to serving and protecting communities across the country.

Among them is a 34-year-old female National Intervention Unit (NIU) operator, one of only 10 active female operators serving in the elite tactical unit nationwide.

For security reasons, SAPS cannot reveal her identity. However, her journey reflects determination, resilience and a passion for policing that has taken her from a frontline service desk to one of the country's most demanding law enforcement units.
